When it comes to restaurants, the international fashion traveler remains loyal, regardless of trend. Whether Milan, London or New York, once that rare combination of perfect menu and ambiance are achieved, they keep coming back. If it's Paris fashion week, it's Ferdi.
Alicia and Jacques Fontanier describe their restaurant as "strictly non chichi". Named for their son, Ferdinand, the decor consists of his old toys and framed family photos. The eclectic menu features both a cheeseburger and ceviche. The vibe? Think beach bar meets laid back neighborhood cafe but be warned; Ferdi is not for the impatient. A hand-written note on the door warns in French, Spanish and English: "Good food takes time. We have the food. Do you have the time?"
During the spring 2018 Paris fashion week, MOBS teamed up with Ferdi on a limited version of the iconic Tread Low in Black. Worn by staff throughout the week, the collaboration features toy detailing that mirrors the decor of the restaurant.
Reaction from both the hard-working staff and diners was fantastic. Servers told us the shoes were comfortable even after the hectic fashion week shifts. They also told us that patrons definitely took notice of the shoe's unique detailing, asking about the brand, our connection to the restaurant, and most importantly, where they could get a pair.
Unfortunately, the shoe will not be released to the public but the Tread Low in Black remains a core piece of the collection.
We are grateful to have had the opportunity to team up with Alicia, Jacque and their amazing staff. If you get to Paris, Ferdi is a must visit.
